Good Morning, All! I was filling out some paperwork this morning and put the date as July. Someone quickly informed me it is now August, when did that happen?! 10 days ago, apparently. Missed that one for sure. Even though August snuck up on us, there’s still 44 days left of Summer! By the way, what would we do without Google? That’s a whole other story.
One of our customers shared his photos with us on Instagram from his float trip last weekend (refer to featured pic).
I couldn’t decide whether or not I was happy he was enjoying our tents or if I was just plain jealous of his fun. The professional answer is the first one….the honest answer is the second…
Seriously though, we are loving all of your posts, seeing our customers enjoying our products is what we live for. We all get so caught up in work, soccer games, piano lessons, school, etc that we forget to make memories together.
My parents had a lake house growing up and spending time there is some of the best memories I have from my childhood. My family would just spend all weekend together on the dock, out on the boat, on the deck grilling, laughing and goofing off.
Now, I know a lake house isn’t for everyone. It wasn’t the house- It was the time. It was the outdoors. It was the simplicity. Granted, that was a time before Facebook and when AOL dominated the virtual mail sector, but I believe that can still exist in today’s world, simplicity I mean. So, in summary (I learned that in college, thanks mom and dad) that is what I love about our company and our products–we are reminded every single day by our customers that simplicity still exists.
You can take vacations to Disneyland and get the hotel with wifi and an indoor pool, there’s nothing wrong with that. But, I promise you, your kids will never forget the time you packed up the car, spent all weekend outside, and instead of sharing what’s on your mind on Facebook, you did it with your family and friends around a campfire.
For those of you without kids, like myself, spend as much time outdoors as you can; the best stories start with, “So we were out on the river, drinking, right? And what had happened was…” AmIRight??? Make vacation easy again.
Enjoy life’s simple pleasures. Run from a bear or two. Listen to the wolves howling at night. Fall asleep to the sounds of a river. These are things we take for granted every single day.
We don’t get today back, we don’t get our weekends back, and we don’t get our years back. Stop saying, “Eh, I’ll buy a tent next year and plan something.” Do it now. No one on their death bed looks back on their life and says, “I wish I would have worked more. I wish I would have made more money. wish I would have spent more time on Facebook. I wish I would have sent out a few more tweets.” Summer’s not over, but it will be, whether or not you take advantage of it. Go breath in that fresh air. Hike up to those beautiful views that people pay millions of dollars for. Lose yourself ……….Then find yourself.
Then do it all again.
